Biography

WEI Tao’s practice is consistently grounded in a sustained inquiry into states of existence. Rather than constructing meaning through explicit symbolic systems, his work tends to operate through the relational dynamics between abstract structures such as space, time, gravity, and memory, enabling viewers to re-perceive forces that resist definition yet continuously shape lived experience.

He is particularly attentive to how things, once detached from their original contexts, can be re-seen in a condition approaching “pure presence.” His works often emerge at the threshold between reality, perception, and concept, where adjustments in scale, structure, and modes of viewing temporarily suspend language, memory, and time from their functional definitions, transforming them into experiences closer to affect and perception themselves.
